About Uniroyal Tires

Uniroyal is a U.S-based tire manufacturer, which was originally known as the United States Rubber Company. Launched in 1892 in Naugatuck, Connecticut, it was formed after the merger of nine different tire manufacturers.

In 1990, this tire manufacturer was purchased by Michelin. After the acquisition, it ceased operating as a separate business. Today, its operations in North America are controlled by Michelin while Continental controls its operations in Europe. Its U.S plant currently has more than 1,000 employees.

Uniroyal produces various types of tires. But, the Tiger Paw model remains one of its most renowned tires. Introduce by the company circa 1960, this tire has been included as OE for various types of muscle cars like the Pontiac GTO, as a sign of its reliability.

Most Popular Uniroyal Tires

Uniroyal manufactures different types of tires for a wide range of vehicles on the road. It manufactures car tires, pickup tires, minivan tires, and SUV tires, among others. Also, it produces tires designed for different seasons and terrains such as all-season tires, ultra-high performance tires, all-terrain tires and winter tires, just to name a few. Some of this company’s most popular tires include:

Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring A/S

As its name suggests, the Tiger Paw Touring is an all-season tire, designed to deliver dependable performance, all-year-round. This grand-touring all-season tire is built for drivers of compacts, sedans, subcompacts, coupes, crossovers, minivans and any other passenger vehicle.

Features

As noted above, the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring is built to deliver adequate grip and traction throughout the year. According to Uniroyal, this tire is also designed to deliver a comfortable and quiet ride, around town and on the highway. To meet these goals, Uniroyal has outfitted it with various key features.

Uniroyal has equipped this tire with an all-season tread compound, which has been formed into a symmetric tread pattern. This tread construction and design help this tire to deliver adequate traction, whether it’s during the dry, wet or cold season.

The Tiger Paw Touring’s tread pattern also features a continuous center rib, which helps to provide straight-line tracking.

Similar to other all-season tires on the market, this tire also comes with high-density zigzag sipes, which have been cut throughout its shoulders. These zigzag sipes help to enhance the tire’s traction in wet conditions and on snow-covered roads.

Uniroyal has further provisioned this all-season grand-touring tire with four wide and deep longitudinal grooves, designed to evacuate water from the tire’s tread. Consequently, the risk of aquaplaning will be considerably reduced, leading to adequate grip in wet and slippery conditions.

The Tiger Paw Touring also comes with Uniroyal’s proprietary DuraShield construction. This construction features two sturdy steel belts and several insulating belt edge strips. It also features a heavy-duty liner. This technology is designed to enhance the tire’s resistance to punctures and other forms of damage while boosting its high-speed stability.

Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country

The Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country is a top-quality all-season tire, designed for light trucks and SUVs. It’s built for drivers, who are looking for a tire that can perform well throughout the year, whether it’s on dry or wet surfaces, city roads or on the highway.

Key Features

The Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country comes with an all-season tread compound, which utilizes the company’s proprietary TruForm construction technology. This technology helps to enhance the tire’s durability while promoting uniform rolling. Also, helps to distribute stress uniformly throughout the tire’s contact patch, resulting in even tread wear.

Uniroyal has further outfitted this tire with four circumferential grooves and a series of open tread grooves. These grooves help to evacuate water from the tire, thus reducing the risk of aquaplaning while boosting its wet handling. Furthermore, this tread design also helps to supply the necessary grip needed to handle wet and slippery surfaces.

The Laredo Cross Country’s tread also features hundreds of sipes on the tread blocks. These sipes provide additional biting edges, needed for gripping the surface in snowy conditions. Hence, you can expect this tire to perform reliably well on snow-covered roads. But, it may not be the ideal choice for roads covered with heavy layers of snow or ice – since it wasn’t built for such conditions.

Inside the Laredo Cross Country are two sturdy steel belts, which work together with the tire’s DuraShield construction, to deliver enhanced strength and durability, throughout the tire’s speed range.

Uniroyal Tires Warranties and Guarantees

Uniroyal stands behind its tires with solid warranties and guarantees. And this is something you can expect from a tire brand as renowned as Uniroyal. S

Some of the warranties and guarantees that come with its tires include a workmanship and materials warranty, treadwear warranty, as well as a customer satisfaction guarantee.

Each of these warranties and guarantees is designed to cushion you against loss, in case a Uniroyal tire wears out or fails prematurely. Let’s take a closer look at what’s protected under this warranty.

Workmanship and Materials Warranty

The workmanship and materials warranty is designed to protect you against loss, in case your Uniroyal tire is removed from service due to defects associated with workmanship or materials. Uniroyal will replace the tire with a comparable new one, free of charge or do the replacement on a pro-rata basis.

Free Replacement

Under this warranty, if your tire becomes unserviceable due to workmanship or materials defects during its first 2/32-inch of the original usable tread or within 12 months from the purchase date, Uniroyal will replace it with a new comparable tire, free of charge.

Also, the company will take care of the tire’s mounting and balancing charges. But, you will be responsible for applicable state and federal taxes as well as other service charges.

Pro-Rata Replacement

If your Uniroyal tire is removed from service outside its first 2/32-inch of the original usable tread or after 12 months from its purchase date, Uniroyal will replace it with a comparable new one, but on a pro-rata basis.

Under the pro-rata basis, you will be required to contribute a portion of the tire’s replacement costs. An authorized Uniroyal tire dealer will determine the amount you will contribute at the time of the tire’s replacement, by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread worn off the tire by its current retailing price.

For example, your 16-inch Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring A/S may become unserviceable due to workmanship or materials defects when the tread is worn by around 60%. Assuming the tire is currently retailing for $100, then the money you will contribute towards its replacement will be $60 or thereof.

You will also be required to cover the cost of the tire’s mounting and balancing, as well as applicable taxes and miscellaneous service charges. Coverage offered under this warranty extends for six years from the tire’s purchase date. After that, it will expire.

Treadwear Warranty

Most Uniroyal tires also come with a treadwear warranty. Under this warranty, Uniroyal commits to replace your set of eligible tires, if they wear out uniformly across their tread, without obtaining the warranted mileage.

The coverage that Uniroyal offers under this warranty is purely on a pro-rata basis. Hence, you will be required to contribute a portion of the tire’s replacement costs. The amount you will contribute will depend on the number of miles the tire will have delivered by the time it wears down to its treadwear indicators.

An authorized Uniroyal tire dealer will determine the actual amount you will contribute towards the tire’s replacement by multiplying the percentage of the warranted mileage the tire has delivered by its current retailing price.

For instance, the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring A/S comes with a 75,000-mile treadwear warranty for the H-rated model. If this tire wears down uniformly across its tread after having delivered only 60,000 miles, then the percentage of warranted mileage it has delivered is 80%. Assuming the tire is currently retailing at around $105, the amount you will contribute towards its replacement will be around $86. You will also be required to pay for its mounting and balancing costs, as well as applicable taxes and service charges.

It’s important to mention that Uniroyal will only replace your tire under this warranty if you followed proper rotation and inspection procedures, as recommended by the company or your vehicle manufacturer.

Customer Satisfaction Guarantee

Some Uniroyal tires also come with a 45-day customer satisfaction guarantee. So, if you purchase a set of Uniroyal tires with this guarantee and you are not satisfied with their performance, you are free to return them where you purchased them.

Upon returning them, the dealer will exchange the set of tires with a comparable new set of equal or lesser value. You will be required to produce your original sales receipt when returning your set of tires for this replacement to go through.
