About the Pirelli P Zero Nero GT

If you own a high-performance vehicle and you live in an area that experiences fair weather conditions throughout the year, it will be highly advisable to use specialized high-performance tires

Specialized high-performance tires will deliver the best possible traction, handling, and braking in warm conditions. And this is where the Pirelli P Zero Nero GT tire comes in.

Engineered for high-performance sedans, SUVS, crossovers and minivans, this tire is designed to deliver crisp steering response, responsive handling, as well as decent ride quality in both wet and dry conditions.

According to Pirelli, the P Zero Nero GT is engineered to deliver better dry handling, superior grip, and a longer tread life than its predecessor the P Zero Nero.

The P Zero Nero GT is currently available in more than 30 different sizes.

Design Features and Technologies

Pirelli equips its tires with several state-of-the-art features and technologies, to ensure they deliver outstanding year-round traction and long treadwear life.

And the P Zero Nero GT is no exception. It has been outfitted with a wide range of innovative features and technologies such as:

Summer Tread Compound

Unlike the previous iteration, the P Zero Nero GT features an advanced summer tread compound, featuring an all-new silica compound.

This new tread compound is designed to deliver enhanced adequate traction, without compromising its sporty feeling, in both dry and wet conditions.

Also, this all-new tread compound is designed to provide extended wear resistance for the tire, resulting in long tread life.

And while this tire doesn’t come with a mileage warranty, Pirelli states that you can get 30,000 miles or more from the P Zero Nero GT.

Symmetric Tread Pattern

The advanced summer tread compound has been further molded to form an asymmetric tread pattern, featuring a wide rib tread pattern.

This tread pattern is designed to increase the tire’s rigidity while enhancing its traction, grip and steering response on a wide range of road surfaces and weather conditions.

Also, the asymmetric tread pattern plays an important role in helping to reduce the level of road noise, especially when the vehicle they are mounted on is moving at high speeds.

Wide Circumferential Grooves

If you take a closer look at this tire, you will notice that its surface features four wide circumferential grooves.

These wide circumferential grooves help to channel water away from the tire’s surface, resulting in increased hydroplaning resistance.

Robust Internal Structure

Inside the P Zero Nero GT are two steel belts, which have been reinforced with zero-degree nylon.

This robust internal construction helps to increase the tire’s strength and rigidity while promoting high-speed durability.

It also helps to distribute footprint pressure uniformly, leading to better overall performance.

Performance on Dry Roads

The P Zero Nero GT is a summer tire. And as you may expect, its performance on dry roads is nothing short of exceptional.

Thanks to its all-new tread compound and asymmetric tread pattern, this tire will provide outstanding all-around performance.

When driving on this tire, I experienced one of the best driving performances from a high-performance tire.

Its grip on dry roads was excellent, braking responsiveness was amazing and its steering was accurate.

From my driving experience, I can confidently say that this is one of the best summer tires on the market.

So, if you own a powerful sports car, a sports coupe, or a luxury sedan and you are looking for a tire that can match your vehicle’s performance, then the P Zero Nero GT will be a great choice.

It’s, without a doubt, one of the best summer tires in the market. And this explains why most performance-oriented vehicles use it as original equipment (OE).

Performance in Wet Conditions

Its performance on wet roads is also outstanding. And this can be attributed to its special tread compound and the wide circumferential grooves.

As mentioned earlier, the four wide circumferential grooves help to evacuate water from the tire’s surface, thus reducing the risk of hydroplaning.

At the same time, the special tread compound ensures the tire has adequate traction, even when you are driving in wet and slippery conditions.

Performance in Snow and Ice

The P Zero Nero GT is an ultra-high performance tire. Simply put, it’s a summer tire, engineered for warm and dry conditions.

Hence, it’s not intended to be used in winter conditions, meaning its performance on ice and snow will be poor.

Therefore, if you live in an area that experiences extended winter seasons then the P Zero Nero GT may not be the ideal choice for such conditions.

It lacks the design features and technologies needed to provide a safe driving experience on ice and snow.

Instead, it will be highly recommended to use a high-performance winter tire.

Ride Quality

According to drivers who have used this tire, the P Zero Nero GT delivers a comfortable and smooth ride.

However, I also noticed that it may produce some noise, especially when driving the vehicle at high speeds. And this can be expected, considering its large tread blocks.

But overall, its ride quality is at par with some of the best high-performance tires in its category.

While it may not be the quietest high-performance tire, its overall ride quality is not disappointing.

Warranties and Guarantees

Pirelli has backed the P Zero Nero GT with two warranties. These are the standard limited warranty and tire uniformity warranty.

Let’s dive in and take a closer look at what is covered under these two warranties for the P Zero Nero GT.

Standard Limited Warranty

Pirelli warrants that the P Zero Nero GT tire will be free from defects in materials and workmanship.

Hence, if your tire becomes unserviceable due to damage caused by material or workmanship defects, then you are eligible for a free replacement.

So, if your tire becomes unserviceable during its first 2/32-inch of the original usable tread or within the first 12 months from the purchase, then you will get a comparable new tire.

The free replacement will also include mounting and balancing while the buyer will be responsible for applicable taxes and miscellaneous fees.

If the tire becomes unserviceable outside the free replacement window, it will be replaced on a pro-rata basis.

Under the pro-rata basis, Pirelli and the tire owner will share the tire’s replacement costs.

The buyer’s pro-rata cost will be determined by multiplying the percentage of original usable tread worn off the P Zero Nero GT tire by the dealer’s current selling price.

For example, your P Zero Nero GT tire may become unserviceable after 2 years, due to workmanship or materials defects.

Assuming the percentage of original usable tread worn off the tire is 50% and the tire is currently retailing at $140, the buyer’s pro-rata cost will be $70 while Pirelli will cover the balance of $70.

The $70 will then be applied in the form of a discount or credit when you are replacing your set of P Zero Nero GT tires.

Eligible tires will be covered up to their last 2/32-inch of the original usable tread or until the treadwear maintenance indicators become visible.

After that, the P Zero Nero GT will not be eligible to be replaced, regardless of its age.

You will be required to produce original proof of purchase whenever you are initiating a claim under this warranty together with the affected tires where you purchased them.

Uniformity Warranty

As noted above, the P Zero Nero GT is also backed by a uniformity warranty, also known as a ride uniformity warranty.

Under this warranty, Pirelli offers to replace your P Zero Nero GT tire, if it causes vibrations, shaking, bumping or other issues related to ride quality.

The tire will only be eligible to be replaced under this warranty during its first 2/32-inch of tread wear or within the first 12 months from the date of purchase.

Warranty Exclusions

All tire warranties come with some exclusions. And the same case applies to the P Zero Nero GT tire warranty.

Therefore, some P Zero Nero GT tires may not be eligible to be replaced even if they wear out prematurely or become unserviceable due to materials or workmanship defects.

For instance, your P Zero Nero GT may not be replaced if it becomes unserviceable or wears out prematurely due to:

  • Improper mounting or dismounting
  • Tire alterations such as aftermarket wheel protections
  • Improper fitment, misapplication, insufficient speed rating, under inflated or overinflating
  • Modifying the tire in any way
  • Improper repair practices
  • Vehicle mechanical irregularities such as defective brakes or misalignment
  •  Damage caused by road hazards
  • Damage caused by chemicals and the elements

Simply put, Pirelli will not replace your P Zero Nero GT tire if it wears out prematurely or becomes unserviceable due to damage caused by any form of misuse or abuse.

As mentioned earlier, the P Zero Nero GT is available in more than 30 different sizes, ranging from 16 inches to 19 inches. It can fit numerous vehicles such as:
