What are Ford Fusion Interior Dimensions?
Every Ford Fusion trim level has a passenger volume of 102.8 cubic feet, which is enough to provide a seating capacity for five people. The sedan’s interior dimensions ensure that every passenger has ample space to stretch out.
With a headroom of 37.8 inches, legroom of 38.3 inches, and hip room of 54.4 inches. And shoulder room of 56.9 inches on the rear, passengers sitting at the back have enough space to sit comfortably.
The front passengers get a headroom of 39.2 inches, legroom of 44.3 inches, hip room of 55 inches, and shoulder room of 57.8 inches.
All these dimensions remain similar for the Ford Fusion Plug-in Hybrid, Ford Fusion Hybrid, or the gas-powered Ford Fusion.
However, tall people might find that their heads will touch the sedan’s headliner.
Another thing to note is that the front passenger seat reclines, which gives the passenger enough room to sleep or relax on long trips. Although the interior is roomy, three adults at the back might feel squeezed. The space can better accommodate two adults or three children.
Ford Fusion Cargo Space
When getting a mid-sized sedan, you expect a decent amount of cargo space in the trunk to enable you to haul luggage and carry basic groceries home. Little space means having to sacrifice the passenger area, which reduces the comfort level.
The Ford Fusion is a midsize sedan that has a 16.0 cu. ft of trunk space, which is impressive for this type of car. That gives it extra space compared to popular sedans like the Chevy Malibu, Toyota Camry, and Mazda6.
You can get extra storage to haul large items by split-folding the rear seats. You can fold the rear seats forward to ensure the seatbacks are flush with the rear seats. However, you won’t be able to carry passengers in the back seats.
Do All Ford Fusion Trim Levels Have the Same Amount of Cargo Space?
No, not all trim levels have the same amount of cargo space, but the passenger space remains the same.
Gas-powered Ford Fusion models have 16 cubic feet, while the Hybrid model has 12 cubic feet of trunk space. With the Plug-in Hybrid Ford Fusion, you get 8.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
How Does Ford Fusion Compare to Other Midsize Sedans?
The Ford Fusion faces stiff competition from other sedans like the Toyota Camry, Mazda 6, and Honda Accord, but how does it perform in terms of cargo space?
Toyota Camry
Drivers get up to 16 cubic feet of storage with the Ford Fusion. However, the Toyota Camry only has 14.1 cubic feet of space and up to 15 cu. ft in upper trims.
When evaluating the passenger room, both the Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion appear to have the same length. However, the Fusion has a taller height and wider stance, which offers passengers extra space.
Passengers can stretch out in the Fusion with the 1.5 inches extra legroom in the front and an inch more with the headroom. Backseat and front passengers also get additional shoulder room.
Honda Accord
The Honda Accord has 39.5 inches of front headroom, 42.3 inches of front legroom, and 55.3 inches of hip room, while the Ford Fusion has 39.2 inches of front headroom, 44.3 inches of front legroom, and 55 inches of hip room. The difference between their interior dimensions is minimal.
However, when it comes to cargo capacity, the Honda Accord outdoes itself with 16.7 cubic feet of space, while the Fusion has 16 cubic feet of space.
Nissan Altima
Nissan Altima was the least favorite when it came to fit and finish, but does it beat the Ford Fusion in the passenger room? Both sedans have 39.2 inches of headroom, but the Ford Fusion offers more in terms of legroom.
The Fusion has 44.3 inches of legroom and the Altima offers 44.1 inches.
While the Ford Fusion has 16 cu. ft of cargo space, the Nissan Altima has 15.4 cubic feet of space.
Mazda 6
For people who prefer extra space, the Ford Fusion comes with greater interior dimensions than its competitor, the Mazda 6. It has 1.3 cubic feet more volume, which is enough to accommodate luggage, equipment, and other small packages. Mada 6 sedan has 14.7 cu. ft which is smaller than the Fusion.
Additionally, Ford Fusion has more front-seat legroom, front-seat headroom, and hip room. However, Mazda has added rear-seat heater ducts that are a great addition for a cold day.
